BRINGING CONSERVATION FROM THE COUNTRYSIDE TO YOUR BACKYARD

Farmers and ranchers have been making considerable progress in protecting natural resources. You can join their conservation efforts right in your own backyard, and help improve the environment, attract wildlife, conserve water and make your own yard more appealing and enjoyable.

Backyard Conservation is a nationwide project with several components. While the initial partners are working to develop and distribute materials to their membership and offices, a wider use of materials depends on support from private industry.

The backyard conservation practices outlined in this project are easy and most are inexpensive. Activities can be done by individuals and families, and many practices can be adapted to community gardens, schools and other public places.
